School Governors Are People Like You
Do you want to make an effective contribution to the local community? Are you interested in improving the future of children at our schools? Can you volunteer some of your spare time? Then why not find out more about becoming a school governor at Swaffham Hamond’s High School?
Being a governor can be very enjoyable and worthwhile All types of people can become school governors. No special qualifications are required, but you must be 18 or over on the date when you are elected or appointed. Enthusiasm, commitment and an interest in education are the most important qualities. You don't necessarily need to have a child at the school. Governing bodies make their decisions based on the advice of committees that deal with specific issues like the curriculum, finances or school improvement. If you become a governor, you will probably be asked to serve on a committee where you have an interest or can make a contribution.
If you interested in becoming a school governor, please contact Marie Lewis, Clerk to the Governing Body, at Swaffham Hamond’s High School on 01760 721480.
